Florida is a scam. Henry Flagler built some railroads and tricked a bunch of cold-weary, exhausted New Yorkers to go somewhere in the winter. They were so relieved that it wasn’t 10 degrees, they declared the mosquito-infested swamp a paradise and went home to tell their friends. Then the air conditioner was invented and people started going there in the summer, too. And the rest is history.
